Whitney's Story
Meet Whitney
Meet Whitney Simmons. She’s inspired thousands of women to move, gained over 2 million subs on YouTube, become a spokesperson for mental health awareness, and spearheaded five iterations of her Whitney Simmons x Gymshark collection. Today, she adds another milestone to her journey.
Like many others, Whitney began her fitness journey after going through a rough patch, encouraged by her Dad to give weightlifting a try after she was cut from her college cheerleading team… and let’s just say, it was love at first lift.
The gym became her happy place, a place where she could go to shake off the blues and delve into her new passion; getting strong. Whitney started sharing her weightlifting journey on Instagram and YouTube, and before she knew it, she had a thriving community of followers who were inspired by her transformation and positivity.
Despite constantly wearing a smile on her face and appearing as the picture of health on Instagram, Whitney has had her share of tough times. In 2021, she faced severe depression after some news rocked her personal life, and this was in stark contrast to her upbeat online persona. She had to navigate the tricky balance of being a beacon of positivity while privately dealing with her mental health. But Whitney always remained candid about her struggles, and along with a hefty dose of therapy and self-care, she’s helped her and her followers realize that it's okay not to be okay sometimes.
Throughout the years, she’s remained driven to live an authentic life, and she’s helped others to view their own mental and physical health journeys as a marathon, not a sprint. She aims to inspire others to lead healthier, and happier lives… and it’s not all about how you look, but how you feel. Through a holistic approach to wellness, and a refreshingly transparent outlook on fitness, she continues to show up for herself and motivate others with content that resonates and uplifts.

Whitney Simmons and Adapt have shared an incredible journey and, through it all, Adapt has been Whitney’s ride-or-die range. From mental health growth to discovering body confidence and self-love, Adapt’s been a realization that the gym, and the clothes we gym in, can give us a little confidence boost when we need it most.
And now they’re teaming up. Whitney becomes Adapt’s first-ever Creative Director.
What does it mean to be appointed as Creative Director of Adapt?
W: You all know I'm the OG Adapt girlie. Me and that collection have been on a JOURNEY. From mental health growth to discovering body confidence and self-love, Adapt has always been that little confidence boost when I needed it most. I know the impact this collection can have on women everywhere. So to become its FIRST-EVER Creative Director? Humbled. Honored. Speechless.
As a woman who knows and respects how powerful this range is, I'm here to bring all that to the world and then some more. We've got some serious power moves cooking for you. All to help women feel like their strongest, best selves, in and out of the gym. Thank you, Gymshark, for the opportunity, but thank you, mostly, to you. The support of my lil' community throughout my journey has picked me up, pushed me forward, and got me here today. The future of Adapt is for you.
What are you most excited about now that you’ve been appointed as the Creative Director of Adapt/how will this role see you develop the collection further?
W: The mission for Adapt and myself is still the same: help women feel their strongest and best, period. That'll never change. How do we do that though? Oh, we're gonna have some FUN. We're taking all the things that you and I love about Adapt already and making them even better (yeah, somehow that's possible). Think better bum scrunches, the softest seamless materials, and the cutest, brightest patterns. And then we're gonna add a whole lotta newness with new shades, styles, features, you name it. We aren't stopping 'til every woman feels their best.

Can you give us any hints as to what’s coming for the future of Adapt?
W: We’re keeping Adapt true to its roots, but we’ve got new patterns, new silhouettes, and new colorways in the works. I can’t tell you too much about what’s coming just yet but know that the Adapt you know and love is staying, and it’s only going to get better from here.
